I want to share my impressions about my trip to Dagestan with you. I am a sophisticated traveller, I have seen many things, but Dagestan made an indelible impression on me.
Such beauty, the landscapes I saw just took my breath away!!! Dagestan with its beauty is just La-La Land!!! Such amazing landscapes, they were very close to us and we didn't even know about it! I especially liked the Sulak Canyon – a place of stunning beauty!!!
Staying in a house on a cliff above the river was a gift of fate. It was unexpected. You fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waterfalls. You go out on the balcony and enjoy the beautiful canyon. In the evening on the terrace there was delicious kebab with wine, hearty conversations and flickering light from the open fire are awaiting!!!
It was delightful!!! Thanks to Ulia and Sasha for emotions of joy and happiness, they were able to organize everything so that the heart rejoiced!!!!! In general, I want to say a special thank you to them for making this trip so unforgettable. Thanks to them, my trip to Dagestan was wonderful, which I wish for you too!!!!
Thank you very much Ulia and Sasha for such unforgettable impressions, for a wonderful and rich voyage through the magical places of Dagestan!
The word "wonderful" is not an exaggeration, because this modestly chosen epithet only partially reflects the feelings that we experienced during the tour through beautiful Dagestan, which the guides love themselves, and they made us fall in love with it, as well ❤.
Thank you for the special positive atmosphere, for attention to details, for the diversity in everything: in places, activities and cuisine, for meeting interesting people, for sunrises and sunsets, for spontaneous stops in unusually beautiful places.
This is the best tour I've been on in the last 5-6 years.
Special thanks for the comfort of transportation, the convenient minivan, which, despite the difficulties of the road, kept us comfortable and safe.
It is almost impossible to find a better organized tour, there is no disappointment in anything, only charm)
For the first time I felt how my stock of delight and amazement from what I saw, heard and lived does not run out.
Yes, of course Dagestan itself is beautiful ☝ but poor organization can diminish the pleasure you expect, even in such a place. But with Ulia and Sasha, pleasure is doubled, thank you again!

Thank you tour organizers, Ulia and Alexander, for a wonderful holiday in the mountainous Dagestan!
Ulia is always ready to help, explain and advise, both during the tour and before it! I have not met a better driver than Alexander - everything is done accurately, on time, and, most importantly, calm in this external madness of Dagestan drivers).
This tour had everything: and the dynamics of many interesting locations (how did we manage to have time for everything?!), and the extraordinary palette of colours of nature, and the flavours of national cuisine – you can't count everything! For seven days, we saw and enjoyed the turquoise waters of the Sulak canyon. We even bathed in the blue waters of the Circassian reservoir. We saw many fascinating mountains (it is pointless to list them all). Many of them had emerald man-made terraces for farming. We saw real sand dunes, crevice-hidden caves and waterfalls, and had several picturesque sunsets in the mountains and on the dunes.
This tour can rightfully be called a gastrotour too, where you will be able to appreciate the rich national cuisine - believe me, you will definitely not stay hungry, even when it's time to return home! And active hikes around the locations and small planned climbs will help you keep your figure in shape.
I will always remember the peach orchard and the most delicious peaches I’ve ever tasted in my life, plucked from the tree, landscapes of green mountains with the smell of thyme and yarrow in the warm afternoon, soaring eagles below me when climbing the Lighthouse and every single sunset!
I can say right away that the tour was one of the most impressive in my life. Dagestan is worth going to if you want to see the greatness of nature. I wanted exactly that.
But I will not describe the beauty of Dagestan here, there are a lot of photos and impressions of nature on the Internet. I will tell about what, or rather with whom we were especially lucky – with Ulia and Sasha, our guides and authors of the tour.
The thing is that in Dagestan there is very little service that Russian travellers are used to. There is hospitality instead of service.
It is pleasant and hearty, but it can present a number of surprises. For example, the reservation of a guest house can be jeopardized because "tourists decided to stay longer".
If you look at tours in Dagestan, you will realize that the choice is great. I chose Ulia for two reasons: firstly, she was with us all the time as the author of the tour. Such a luxury is rare for anyone. Usually the tour is sold in an agency, and you go on the road with a so-called "guide-driver". And secondly, I personally communicated with her, and I wish you to meet her before the trip :))))))
You will immediately realize that this person does not work for money. She is wholeheartedly in love with traveling, with her tourists, and sincerely cares about each of them. This is critical in a land where not everyone has heard of service.
Logistically, the tour is organized as conveniently as possible. We didn't have a single long transfer (ask around, many daily itineraries take 4-6 hours).
And another thing, it is extremely important that someone creates an atmosphere on a bus trip. Without it, spending seven days together with strangers in any degree of comfort is hardly possible.
For this I would like to thank both Ulia and Sasha, they are a perfect tandem. Ulia is very lively, reverent, caring and sociable. She surrounded everyone with attention, constantly created a positive mood and was tirelessly supportive when it was difficult physically or emotionally. She has a great sense of humour and wonderful erudition.
She knows a great deal about her routes and people and enjoys sharing this. As a result, the moves were filled with easy and very interesting conversations.
Sasha, on the other hand, was an oasis of emotional stability and calm positivity in all situations. At one of the locations in the mountains the glass of the back door of the bus broke. But we did not feel this sudden unpleasantness for a single minute. Sasha and Ulia, like Chip and Dale, found everything we needed for a temporary repair out of nowhere and we weren’t delayed at all.
You are wrong if you think that all this psychological part is redundant. Emotional comfort on a trip is one of the main factors that makes the experience, because that's what we're going for.
In general, as you understand, I heartily recommend Oikumena – Ulia – Sasha tour :)))))
Just in case, check comprehensive requirements for clothing and equipment of the route with Ulia. She will tell you everything and as an experienced tourist, will give detailed instructions. It is important to be ready for small climbs and some peculiarities of your Dagestan stay. By the way, the check-list, which you will see on the site, should be observed to the smallest detail, the tour confirmed it.
I wish everyone wonderful travels! :)))
Any trip depends on the guide, I believe. Our group was immensely lucky.
You met us with a sunny smile, which gave us such light throughout the trip that even the weather could not argue with you.
I saw stunning places of nature on the trip, with the help of a reliable driver any road was easy.
Ulia, you showed us Dagestan, which will remain in my heart: sand barchan, canyon, beauty of nature, height of mountains, sea.
The Imperial Trail is a place I definitely want to return to.
You have an incredible talent to fly through the mountains, to charge with mood, lightness, joy and love for mountains and travelling, to support any conversation and to find the most interesting stories in your tourist's trunk.
I thoroughly enjoyed the yoga, the company and the fellowship.
First off, it was an entirely new format for me.
I liked the organization:
Everything is clear, all issues are resolved promptly, and it feels like the organizers themselves enjoy it all.
The programme is interesting: there are heavy hikes (for me) and then light trekking. Very beautiful places, of course! And yoga in such places is a very cool idea!
I loved the idea of catering. At first "cooking on your own" sounds kind of weird, but in the end it's really great.
I have such wonderful memories from both Elbrus and Dagestan! Despite the fact that sometimes it was very hard for me to stay on cold Elbrus.
